Madison, WI - "Mickee" Warnemuende, passed away on April 10, 2014 at the age of 70. Mickee was born in Manhattan, Kansas on May 22, 1943, the second of eight children born to Margaret Mary (Peggy) and Dr. Joseph Dominic Parent. Mickee grew up in Wilmette, IL and was an accomplished musician with the piano, guitar and vocals. She received many musical and academic awards including winning the top honor at the Chicago Catholic Schools Music Association concerto contest for high school students in 1961, held at the Civic Opera House. Mickee attended St. Francis Xavier Grade School, Marywood High School, and Mundelein (Loyola) College--where she made many very special life-long friendships, performed in the school musicals and music festivals and received her bachelor's degree in psychology. Mickee then attended graduate school at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where she met her husband of 47 years Joe Warnemuende and earned her Master's degree in Anthropology. Mickee's career included teaching piano to many children and adults at her home in Fox Point, Wisconsin, while raising her three daughters and writing a children's book, "Long Words & Fun Facts." After relocating to Madison, Wisconsin, she became a successful human resource consultant for Williams Young and Associates. Mickee was an avid tennis player, loved bicycling, hiking, snowshoeing, downhill skiing, and canoeing with her husband Joe-- completing Madison's "Paddle and Portage" race, with Joe as a partner, when she was almost 60 years old. She enjoyed travel, opera, music, and learning new things. Mickee had a strong faith in God, and was extremely spiritual. But most of all Mickee's life revolved around her family and helping others. She remained extremely close to all 7 of her siblings, and was the most devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, aunt and friend. Mickee always gave generously of her time, person, and heart to her large circle of family, siblings, and friends because she deeply cared about them all.
Mickee is survived by her devoted husband Joseph Warnemuende, three daughters, Kristin (Patrick) McGuine, Karen (Patrick) Tate, Betsy (Nick) Pappas, as well as 7 grandchildren: Ryan McGuine, Christopher McGuine, Chance Cuthbert, Maggie Cuthbert, Joey Cuthbert, Levi Tate, Piper Tate.
Mickee is also survived by her 7 siblings- Dennis (Leslie) Parent, Peggy (Tony) Knapp, Jerry (Kate) Parent, Ellen (Greg) Caputo, Terry (Bob) Essig, Christine Zeman, Joan (John) Houser, as well as 36 nieces and nephews, all of whom she held as dear. She was preceded in death by her mother Peggy Parent, and father Dr. Joseph Parent.
