Mary Schneiter

July 20, 1928 — July 20, 2018

Mary Lou Schneiter of Sun Prairie, WI, entered the gates of Heaven peacefully on her 90th birthday, July 20, 2018 in her home with family members present. Earlier in the day the Mayor presented her with an official proclamation recognizing July 20th as Mary Lou Schneiter Day for the City of Sun Prairie.

Mary Lou was born in Ragersville, Ohio to Norman and Velma Renner on July 20, 1928. She was baptized, confirmed and later married in the United Church of Christ in Ragersville. She grew up on her parent's dairy farm where she learned self-reliance and the value of hard work at a young age. She experienced the great depression during her childhood and she came of age during WWII. She learned how to drive a team of horses as a young girl on the farm and she learned how to email her great grandchildren 80 years later.

As an active member of the 4-H Club, she exhibited her Blue Ribbon Champion Holstein cow at the County Fair. She attended the Sugarcreek Shanesville High School where she first met her husband John when they were both freshmen 76 years ago. She graduated from High School in 1946. She married John in 1948 after he was discharged from the Army Air Corps.

Next to her love for John, she was passionate in her love for her family, and her family felt the same way about her. She derived a tremendous amount of satisfaction from watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and mature. In addition to her love of family was her love for the Lord and reading her daily devotionals. Mary Lou was actively involved in the church her whole life and she was a member of the United Methodist Church Sun Prairie for 30 years. Mary Lou most enjoyed spending time with her family and she was a wonderful cook. She was happiest when she was unselfishly serving family members, friends and neighbors.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her mother, Velma I. Renner and her father, Norman H. Renner. She is survived by her husband, John W. Schneiter of Sun Prairie and children Jim (Kris) Schneiter, Ann (Craig) Hutchison and Jane (Dr. Ralph) Velazquez; her sister Carole A. Hostetler; eight grandchildren, Blake (Kari) Hutchison, Alan Hutchison, Lindsay (David) Loewe, Blythe (Greg) Watson, Kelly (Ryan) Fegley, Jamie (David) Beran, Dr. Eric (Kerry) Velazquez, Abby Velazquez; eight great grandchildren, Wesley and Harrison Loewe, John and Grant Hutchison, William and Bruce Watson, twins Thea and Rae Fegley.
