In Loving Memory

Mary Jane Leahan, age 91, passed away January 11, 2014 at Prairie Gardens. She was born in Madison at St. Mary's Hospital on May 9, 1922 to Millard F. and Lucina Bell (Heberling) Norris.

Mary Jane graduated from Sun Prairie High School and then followed her sister Ida May to the University of Chicago Nursing School. After becoming an RN she joined her brother Millard in his medical practice in Pawnee, Illinois and also worked at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. She was united in marriage to William M. Leahan at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. Later the family moved back to Sun Prairie where Mary Jane worked in surgery at St. Mary's Hospital and pulmonary at the V. A. Hospital in Madison, where she retired. Mary Jane was a member of the Sun Prairie VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Mary Jane is survived by her sons Patrick (Kristi) and Michael (Sonja) Leahan; grandchildren Stephanie, Andrew, Shauna and Dustin. She was preceded in death by her husband William; grandson Nicholas; brothers Millard, Charles and Chauncy and sisters Loretta Mellenthine and Ida May Norris.

A memorial service for Mary Jane will be held 11:00am, Friday, January 17, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Agrace Hospicecare or National Spasmodic Torticollis Association.

A Special thank you to the staff at Prairie Gardens and Agrace Hospicare for their compassionate care.

Mary was fond of her many relatives and friends and was always mentioning her good times. She will be dearly missed.
