Mary Ellen Kussow

Mary Ellen Kussow, 84, of Madison, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, following a two-month diagnosis with brain cancer.

Born August 27,1941, in De Pere, WI, Mary Ellen was the beloved daughter of the late Ardeil and Agatha Van Dalen. Graduating from De Pere High School in 1959, she married David K. Kussow on December 23, 1964.

Mary Ellen’s greatest love was for her Lord, and then her family and dear friends. She enjoyed helping others, studying God’s word with friends, spending quiet time in her flower garden, and holding hands with David. Her loving smile was a most welcome sight to many people.

Mary Ellen will be deeply missed by David, her loving husband of 61 years; her children, Caren Bugay and Cynthia (Scott) Kornetzke; her grandchildren, Nicole (Joey) Fagan, Michael Bugay, Julia Kornetzke and Joshua Kornetzke; her sister Ann (Kenny) Geurts, her sister-in-law Amy Ward, and many close friends.

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thanks to Agrace in home hospice (Clover team) for the compassionate care they provided Mary Ellen over the past two months.

A funeral service will be held at Asbury Church, 6101 University Avenue, Madison, on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11:00am. The family will greet relatives and guests in a time of remembrance at the church from 10:00am - 11:00am. Cress Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
