Mary Karls

Mary Ann I. Karls, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the Waunakee Manor Health Care Center. She was born in Roxbury, WI on August 2, 1932 to Florian and Emma (Breunig) Ballweg. Mary Ann married Alfred F. Karls on June 5, 1951 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City, WI. Mary Ann enjoyed baking, putting together puzzles, playing cards and even fishing with Alfred in her younger days. Family was a big part of her life she always loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, which is quite a bunch at family gatherings. Her church and faith in God also played a huge part in her life and contributed to the loving, caring and exceptional person that she was here on earth.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Michael, David (Annie), Alan (Terri), Herbert (Rose), Raymond (Sheila), Vincent (Nancy), Paul (Diana), and Donna(Russ) Nath; 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren on the way. She is further survived by her sister and brother, Evelyn Acker and Vincent (Janet) Ballweg, brothers- and sisters-in-law: Fran Beuthin, Lois Ballweg, Edmund (Virginia) Karls, Genevieve Greiber, Elizabeth Laufenberg, Marilyn Karls and Lucille Endres. She was proceeded in death by her husband: Alfred, her parents, a daughter-In-law: Donna Karls, sisters: Angeline (Wildred) Hensen, Serephine (LeRoy) Schlimgen and Leona Fass, by brothers: Werner (Inez and Alice) Ballweg and Andrew Ballweg, brothers and sister-in-law: Jerome Acker, George Karls, Lawrence (Helen) Niesen, Herman Greiber, Herbert Laufenberg and Donald Endres.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 209 South St. Waunakee. Msgr James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Luncheon will be served immediately following the service. Private burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Special thanks to her sister, Evelyn, for her support and companionship. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Noelle Dowling/SSM Health and the entire staff at the Waunakee Manor for the wonderful care provided to their mother. A special thanks goes to Monsignor Gunn for all his faith, caring and support.
