Mary Jean Guetzkow

Madison - Mary Jean (Koecke) Guetzkow, age 70, passed away January 30, 2011 at HospiceCare, Inc. after a long battle with Diabetes and Renal disease.

Mary Jean was born in Prairie Du Chien, WI on June 5, 1940. She was active in sports and was a cheerleader at the Prairie Du Chien high school. Mary Jean married Clarence Guetzkow on October 6, 1962. Mary Jean provided day care for her children and the neighborhood children for several years. As her kids grew older, she worked as a housekeeper at Oakwood Village Nursing Home and Meriter Hospital.

Mary Jean is survived by her husband, Clarence Guetzkow, Madison, WI, her children Marc (special friend JoAnn Kenne) Guetzkow, Unity, WI and Kathryn (Andy) Elkins, New Glarus, WI., a brother Ethan (Joyce) Koecke, Wauzeka, WI, grandchildren Ethan and Emily Elkins, New Glarus, WI., and many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her mother and father, Eugene and Mary (Steiner) Koecke.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation and service on Friday, February 4, 2011 at MIDVALE LUTHERAN CHURCH. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services begin at 11:00 a.m. There will be a luncheon at the church after the service.
