Mary Bernards

Mary Jane (Kipp) Bernards, age 95, died on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the Waunakee Manor Health Care Center. She was born October 8, 1921, in Hampton, IL to Harry Kipp and Mary Etta (Lear) Kipp. Mary was married to Henry Bernards on April 3, 1946, in Muscatine, Iowa.

Surviors include son, Kenneth (Margaret) Bernards of Waunakee; daughter, Debra Bernards of Waunakee; four grandchildren, Michelle Bernards, Edward (Amy) Bernards, Dale (Michelle) Bernards, and Todd (Carey Walters) Bernards; and nine great-grandchildren, Austin Knight-Bernards, Grace and Gavin Bernards, Rowan and Miller Chmielewski, Elizabeth Bernards, Elijah Bernards, and Sydney and Isaac Walters; brother, Al (Carol) Kipp; sister-in-law, Bonnie Kipp; and sister-in-law, Margie Kipp. She was precedeed in death by her husband, Henry Bernards of 58 years; her pet dogs, Smokey and Isis; brothers, Harry, Herbert, Raymond, Kenneth, Joseph, Clarence, and George, and sisters, Vivian, Margaret, and Emma.

Mary enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers, following her grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities, and playing cards.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee. Msgr. James Gunn will preside. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Waunakee Manor for taking good care of our mother over the last year.
