Mary Ann Fleiner passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2024 surrounded by the love of her husband and 4 children. Mary Ann was born October 4, 1940 to Joseph and Helen Hrubes in Castle Rock (Grant County). She attended a one room grade school, then graduated from Monfort High School (now Iowa Grant). She moved to Madison to work at the Emporium and University Book Store. Through a dear friend, she met and married her life partner, Bob Fleiner. They wed on Oct 6, 1962.
She was active in her younger years playing softball, bowling, golfing, biking, walking and working out at the gym. She volunteered for WaunaFest, initiated and organized the Arts and Crafts Fair for decades! She was an active Lioness and Poll Worker and served the community. She shared her quilting skills with Project Linus and created beautiful keepsakes. She formed lifelong friendships working for the Waunakee Tribune and Marshall Erdman/Techline. She was an active member of St. John’s Parish and religion was central to her. She lived her life in God’s image through her service, kindness, friendship, compassion, and grace.
She was very proud of her four children Shelly Fleiner - Scottsdale, AZ, Laura (Mark) Reinig – San Diego, CA, Mike (Nicole) Fleiner – Frisco, TX, Randy (Virginia) Fleiner – Austin, TX, and their accomplishments in life. The true joys of her life were her four grandchildren: Kera, Zachary, Hannah and Madison, whom she loved spending time with, baking special treats with, and celebrating any occasion. Travel and vacations were always filled with family.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, all 5 brothers: Larry (Linda) Hrubes, Don (Linda) Hrubes, Jim (Judy) Hrubes, LaVern (Carolyn) Hrubes, Tom (Dee) Hrubes, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Sat. Feb 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St John’s Catholic Church 209 South St Waunakee. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
Mary Ann loved tending to her flower garden, enjoyed and gifted fresh flowers in abundance! In lieu of flowers, the family will be establishing a memorial to support heart failure research.
