MADISON - Marvin R. Poulik, 81 years old, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 in Madison, WI. Marv was born September 16, 1933 in Waunakee, WI to Frank and Henrietta (nee Stejskal) Poulik. He grew up on the family farm and graduated class of 1952, Waunakee High School. He farmed with his father and was an Omar delivery man. After working for Central Colony, he worked for the University of Wisconsin and retired after 30+ years. Marv was married to Jennette Simonson on May 3, 1958.
Marv played baseball for Waunakee High School, CYO, and Westport Home Talent. He was an avid sportsman and loved fishing, hunting, boating, and snowmobiling. Marv was an award winning bowler and worked at Middleton Sport Bowl in his retirement. He was a diehard sports fan of the Wisconsin Badgers, traveling to many Rose Bowls. He loved watching the Chicago Bears and Cubs.
He volunteered at Oak Park Place, and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Surviving family members include his loving wife of 57 years, Jennette Poulik; twin sister, Margaret (Stanley) Muzatko of East Troy, WI; sister, Helen McVicar of Waunakee, WI; nephews: Doug (Janet) Muzatko, Michael (Theresa) Muzatko, Steven (Cheryl) Muzatko, Richard (Laurel) McVicar, Stuart (Kylene) McVicar, and Robert (Diane) Templin; nieces: Donna (David) McGee, Lori (Tim) Zelenski, Anne (George) Acker, Shirley (David) Nelson, and Loralee (Larry) Kaschinske; as well as great-nephews: Tim (Jennie) Conner, Steven Devin, and Jordan Kaschinske, Jeff Tempin, Michael (Cheri) Nelson, Rick (Brandi) Nelson; great niece Kristin (Darrin) Siembal; and others including many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Marv was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law Richard McVicar, Mary and Hugh Hokenstad, and Elnora Templin, as well as nephew Rollie Templin.
A Celebration of Marvin's Life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3910 Mineral Point Rd., Madison, WI 53705, with Pastor Gregory Jewison presiding. Friends and family may call from 9:00 am until time of service. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
