Marvel Edwards

June 30, 1915 — December 21, 2012

McFarland/Stoughton
Marvel A. Edwards, 97, completed her life journey on December 21, 2012, at her residence at the Skaalen Sunset Home in Stoughton. She was born June 30, 1915, at the Stoughton Hospital, the daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Mike and Josie Stolen. She and her sisters, Gertrude and Louise and brother, Olaf, helped with the family farm in the town of Rutland. She married the love of her life, Milo Edwards, on February 11, 1935, and they were blessed with two children, Patsy and Dean. Marvelous Marvel was active in the McFarland School Parent Association; was a long-time member of the McFarland Lutheran Church; a founding member of Rebecca Circle; and especially loved being a long-time elder in the Hwy AB neighborhood birthday club where generations of women have celebrated birthdays since the 1940s.

Marvel is survived by her daughter, Pat Edwards Rossman (Wilson); daughter-in-law, Kae Edwards; eight grandchildren, Rory Rossman (Theresa), Robin Rossman Urso (Cain), Beth Edwards Huwe (Dave), Tim Edwards, Jean Edwards Grenier, Pat Sullivan, Mike Sullivan (Marguerite), and Dan Sullivan (Sherry). She will also be missed and remembered by her dear great-grandchildren: Kayla, Emily and Erin Rossman; Chanel, Cheyanne and Cale Urso; Ted Huwe; Anna Miller; Amy, Katie, Karley and Michael Sulliva. She also celebrates a great-great grandchild, Lennon Urso, born on Gram Marvels birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo; a great granddaughter, Amelia Huwe; and her son, Dean.

Special people touch our lives in everything they do and leave us changed long after they have gone. The gifts they give us become a part of who we are...a legacy of beauty that lives on. Marvel Edwards was one of those special people and her memory will shine through us, her friends and family.

A memorial service to celebrate Marvel's life will be held at the Skaalen Chapel, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton on Monday, December 24 at 10 a.m. There will be a visitation preceding the service from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and refreshments following the service in the Friendship Room of the Skaalen Sunset Home.

Rather than flowers, Marvel asked that memorials in her name be made to the Skaalen Endowment Fund with grateful thanks to the angels at Skaalen that loved and cared for her there. Memorials may also be given to Agrace Hospice, an extraordinary group of people with an extraordinary mission; or the McFarland Education Foundation. Thank you also to all her friends and family that cared so much for Marvel.

I AM FREE
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss...
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I've savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee..,
God wanted me now and set me free.
