Martha Becker

Waunakee - Martha C. Wipperfurth Becker, age 95, passed away October 20, 2012 at the Waunakee Manor Health Care Center. Martha was born June 28, 1917 to Matthew and Clara Wipperfurth of Dane. She married Herbert Becker on May 20, 1943 and together they farmed for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert and her two brothers and two sisters and their spouses.
She is survived by daughter Jude (Bernie) Uebersetzig and son James (Gwen); five grandchildren Todd (Dawn) Uebersetzig, Kym Uebersetzig Pieper, Chad (Jenny) Uebersetzig, Abbey (Jon) Moynihan and Kristin (AJ Romero) Becker; nine great grandchildren: Taylor, Emily, Andrew, Tanner, Claire, Ashlyn, Avery, McKenna, and Isabella; and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was a member of St. John's Catholic Church of Waunakee, Christian Mothers, and St. Jude's Circle.
Martha was an avid gardener raising strawberries, raspberries, gladiolas, and vegetables. She was a seamstress, had an egg route for many years and volunteered at the Waunakee Manor, crocheted baby caps and prayer shawls for St. Mary's Hospital and baptismal blankets for St. John's. She cared for foster children and babysat for numerous children. She loved playing cards, music and bingo. She loved life and loved to help people.
Visitation will be Tues. Oct. 23, 2012 from 4pm t0 7 pm at Winn-Cress Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wed. Oct. 24, 2012 at 11 am at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH, 209 South Street, Waunakee, WI 53597. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 am. Burial will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the RCAC and Waunakee Manor staff for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Martha for the past four years.
