INDIANAPOLIS - Marlys J. Williams, 81, joined her husband and parents in life eternal on December 15, 2013, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Madison, Wisconsin to Raymond S. and Elizabeth I. (Weghorn) Mallow on January 15, 1932, she lived in Wisconsin for the vast majority of her life.
She obtained her bachelor's degree from Milton College in Janesville, Wisconsin, and her master's degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Most of her professional career was spent teaching English at the University of Wisconsin at Platteville.
In Platteville, she met her husband, Dean G. Williams. Together they enjoyed friends, family, travel, and Badger and Packer football games. After Dean's death in 2000, Marlys moved to Indianapolis to be near her sister's family.
Marlys is survived by her sister Marjorie A. Cox, her niece, Nancy L. (Mac) Martin, her nephews Raymond M. Cox and Thomas P. Cox, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, and her faithful cat Daisy.
Her ashes will be interred in Section 50 of Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison, Wisconsin on May 31, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. with a reception following at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road. Those needing detailed directions to the grave site may meet in the Cress Funeral Home parking lot at 10:45 and caravan to the services. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
