Mark Zurbuchen

Waunakee - Mark R. "Zurbie" Zurbuchen, age 55, passed away with dignity on Sunday, February 8, 2015 in his home in Waunakee.

Mark was born in Verona, WI to Cora and Roger Zurbuchen. Mark graduated from Verona High School in 1977. Zurbie went on to meet the love of his life, Lisa. They were married on June 27, 1987. Mark had a long career with CUNA Mutual for 26 years. On November 27, 1990, the best chapter of their lives began with the birth of their son Justin. Mark not only proved to be a loving and proud father, but a best friend to Justin. Together, they shared many memories of fishing, snowmobiling, and going to car shows.
With his family by his side, Zurbie enjoyed life by many means. Mark loved to travel. His favorite destinations were Disney World and Mexico, but he also enjoyed camping, going up north, and vacationing in Punta Cana. Mark also loved his music. He was an avid Elvis fan and enjoyed listening to country music. Zurbie loved his Ram trucks throughout the years and his Dodge Challenger. Mark was also known for loving his coffee and unsweetened ice tea.
Mark is survived by his wife, Lisa, of 27 years; his son, Justin; his "daughter," Sam; his parents, Cora and Roger; his sister Jayne Holmes (Tim); his mother in law Silvana Hughes; sister in law Michele Baumel and several other supportive and caring friends and family.
The celebration of Zurbie's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at WINN-CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee, WI 53597. Gathering will be from 10:00 until 1:45 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Please gather with family and friends of Mark at the Legion in Waunakee after the memorial service for a luncheon.
