MADISON - Marjorie J. Morgenthaler passed away on Tuesday August 5, 2014. She was born on June 20, 1923 in Madison, beginning a long and rich life with her parents; Paul and Julia Stark and siblings; Dorothy, Jane, Richard, and Phillip.
She grew up in Nakoma and graduated from West High. She attended UW-Madison, earning a degree in art. She worked as a commercial artist, art teacher and later as a fine artist. Marge was generous with her skills, time and talent in the community, passing on her knowledge to many. She was truly gifted.
She married Alfred Morgenthaler on Sept. 28, 1951 and after a brief stay in Washington State, settled in Madison to raise a family; Eric, Julie, Paula, and Douglas. She and Alfred were wonderful parents, providing a stable, welcoming and fun-loving home to family and friends.
Marge is survived by her son Eric (Lorita) Morgenthaler, daughter Julie (Steve) Evans, and grandsons Matthew Morgenthaler, Andrew Morgenthaler, Daniel (Jess) Evans, Paul (Amy) Evans, and Ben Evans. In addition, she has many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. She was preceded in death by her son Douglas, daughter Paula, husband Alfred, and sisters Dorothy Adams, Jane Savidusky and brother Richard Stark.
We miss her loving, generous and creative spirit and will continue to keep her memory alive with the skills and love of life she so ably passed on to us.
