Stoughton - Marilyn Jean Wolf (Kenyon) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Home Again Assisted Living with her daughters by her side.
Marilyn was born on December 19, 1933, in Stoughton, WI to Byron and Helen Kenyon (Julseth). Growing up, she helped on the family farm and spent countless hours with the family horses – one that ended up kicking her which broke her leg. After graduating from Stoughton High School, Marilyn worked as secretary at Stoughton Trailer. At the age of 19, she traveled to California with one of her best friends by twin-engine prop plane.
Marilyn met her future husband, David Wolf in Stoughton while he was cruising the streets in his car. After their eyes locked, she looked at her friends and said “God I am going to marry that guy one day!” As Marilyn would say “lightning struck the both of them.” David and Marilyn married on June 17, 1954, which was a Thursday so they could make it to the Grand Ole Opry by that Friday for their honeymoon. Marilyn shared a passion for dancing to David’s band every weekend. They also enjoyed playing Euchre with the neighbors or snowmobiling around the countryside with the Rockdale White Nights. It was said “where David was Marilyn was.” Over the years, she dedicated herself to many forms of work, from farming, daycare for neighbors, dishwasher at the Cambridge Elementary School. Most important was working with her husband at his welding shop in Rockdale. She maintained the business bookkeeping and being his master iron cutter. Marilyn and David reigned as King and Queen of Rockdale during their first annual parade.
Marilyn’s most cherished role was raising her two daughters for whom she sewed many of their clothes when they were little girls. She demonstrated talents in knitting, crocheting and displaying her green thumb in producing a beautiful flower garden.
Marilyn is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (Tim) Swain and Diane Black (Wayne Schlimgen). Four grandchildren – Katie (Jonny) Steinbrecher, Matt Swain, Jonathon Black and Courtney Black. One great grandchild Benny Steinbrecher. Two sisters – Kae Phalin and Vicki Kenyon and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn is proceeded in death by her loving husband, David, her parents Byron and Helen Kenyon, sister Ardys. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Home Again Assisted Living in Cambridge where she was known and loved as Miss Marilyn. And also, all the caring staff at Agrace Hospice, especially Melissa and Carmela for their loving care of mom. The family requests in lieu of flowers to please make donations to Agrace Hospice.
A celebration of life will be at 12:00 Noon on Monday May 18, 2026 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 206 W. Prospect St. Stoughton with Rev. Carmela Mulroe presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service at the funeral home on Monday.
Marilyn’s life was marked by a deep devotion to her family, especially her husband David and two daughters and their families as well as active involvement in her local community. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren and great grandchild and extended family, leaving a lasting legacy of care, love and support.
Mom, you are now home with Dad, surrounded by music, laughter, love and peace.
