Marilyn Helen Lein Hagen, age 93, of Stoughton Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her 3 daughters on March 16, 2025. She was born the daughter of Harry and Ermine (David) Manning on December 20, 1931. Marilyn grew up in Clyman, WI, and was a 1949 graduate of Hustisford High School. She moved to Stoughton Wisconsin in 1972 and worked at Super Value as a Butcher’s Assistant. She was active in the Jehovah's Witness Church.
Marilyn could be seen outside working on her flowers and in her garden, as well as feeding and watching the birds. Marilyn raised her 4 children and always enjoyed family get-togethers. She was very physically active as well as active in her community. She worked/taught classes part time at the local Stoughton fitness center, as well as advocating for animals through different rescues and organizations throughout the years, in addition to having dogs and cats of her own. Her devoted cat Paws was there to comfort her during her passing.
Marilyn was very involved in her church. When she could no longer attend, they came and helped her attend online. They continued to help and visit her until the end. She made so many helpful and devoted friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ermine (David) Manning, and her son Dennis Schmit, and her husbands: Clarence Schmit, Milo Lein, Orrin Hagen, her siblings, Ruth Manning, Marjorie Gahlman, David Manning, Henry Manning, Jean Swierzynski and Joan Liechty.
She is survived by her brother Harry Manning; and daughters: Deborah Giddley, Denise (Jim) Mattke,
Donna (Alan) Schmit; and grandchildren: Angela (Eric) Kadlec, Nichole Mcguigan, Jason (Roxanna) Mattke, Shianna Schmit Colvin (Fiancé Lucas Doescher). Great Grandchildren Caleb Drmolka, Anthony Cardarella, and Mason Mcguigan. Also surviving are many loving and supportive in-laws, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The Funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday May 1, 2025, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 206 West Prospect Street, Stoughton, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the service at the funeral home on Thursday. A Reception/ Luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the American Legion, 803 North Page Street, Stoughton, WI.
