Marie Ballweg

Waunakee - Marie R. Ballweg, age 87, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Agrace Hospice after an extended illness. She was born on April 15, 1926 to Fred and Irene (Endres) Statz in the Town of Berry. She was united in marriage to Anton "Tony" Ballweg in 1947. Together they farmed in the Sauk area. After Tony's death, Marie went to work at Ganser Variety in Sauk City. Marie enjoyed going to UW Badger Football games, needlepoint, and playing cards. She is survived by her son, Richard (Linda) Ballweg; their children, Brittany, Cassi and Evan; Son-in-law, Marvin Frey; grandchildren, Tammy (Brian) Markley, Tony (Dana) Frey, Marla (John Quam) Frey, and Mark (Andrea) Frey; 6 great-grandchildren, Laura, Ethan & Addison Markley, Colin Quam, Devon & Taylor Frey; as well as sisters, Lucille Brunner, Joanne Mautz, Donna Rauls, and Doris Pierce; and special friend, Earl Orcholski. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; daughter, Carol Frey; her parents; and two siblings, Lavern Noltner and Fritz Statz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at ST. MARTIN CATHOLIC CHURCH (Martinsville), 5959 St. Martin Circle, Cross Plains. A visitation will be held from 9:30am until time of service at church. Burial will be held at St. Norbert's Cemetery.
