Marie Pauline Arnone

DeForest- Marie Pauline Arnone, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born in the Greenbush neighborhood of Madison on August 11, 1948, the daughter of John and Stephanie Abitante. As a child she rode her bicycle everywhere making sure to stop at Grandma Stallone’s or at her aunt Ann’s house by the zoo, where she knew there were always treats. Marie graduated from Central High School Class of 1966. She met the love of her life Charles Arnone on a Greyhound bus in September 1967. Two months later they eloped and were married on November 18th in Waynesville, MO, where Charlie was stationed. Together they had two wonderful children who gave them two beautiful granddaughters, who were the love of their lives, Aryanna and Brianna. Marie was always singing to them You Are My Sunshine and calling Ary “Peanut.”

Marie worked at WPS from 1966 to 1976. She was a Change Girl at the Silver Nugget in Las Vegas from 1976 to 1978. Marie retired from Demco in 2011 after 31 years as a Customer Service Representative. Marie enjoyed playing BINGO, slot machines, on her tablet, and Friday night fish frys. Marie enjoyed making big meals for family and friends, especially her Italian pasta and lasagna dinners. She was always in the kitchen cooking until she couldn’t do it any longer.

Marie will always be in our thoughts and prayers, and she is lovingly survived by her husband of 57 years, Charlie; son, Charles III; daughter, Stephanie M. (David) Winkelman; two granddaughters, Aryanna (Chad White) Arnone-White and Brianna M. Winkelman; sisters, Natalie Frea and Jonie Joe (Jerry) Hoskins; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Nicholas Abitante.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie. A dinner reception will follow at the Eagles Club, 2109 Bartillon Drive, Madison. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home.
