Marian Pehowski

Madison - Dr. Marian F. Pehowski, age 87, died Saturday, September 29, 2012. Marian was born March 15, 1925 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, daughter of Martha Kluck Pehowski and Victor Pehowski, both of whom predeceased her. Her brother Carl died prior to her birth. She is survived by numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. Marian graduated from Marquette University with MA and PhD degrees in Journalism and Comparative Literature. She taught at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Marquette University, and University of Indiana, Bloomington She was a Fulbright Scholar and fluent in several languages. She traveled and lived on every continent except Antarctica. She had been a feature writer at the Milwaukee Journal and a Section editor for the Green Bay Press Gazette. She has published numerous articles on topics in her field. Her freelance work has appeared in international publications. She was an admired mentor to her students, many of whom remained lifelong friends.
Memorial services for Marian will be held Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, WI 53705. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
