Stoughton — Marian L. Johnson, age 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved boys, on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Kettle Park Senior Living in Stoughton. Marian was born April 7, 1933 in Clinton, WI to the late Christ and Anna (Kline) Ahlert. Marian was a graduate of Clinton High School where she met the love of her life James L. “Jim” Johnson—the brother of her best friend, Mary Ellen Johnson-Morrison. Marian and Jim were married May 26, 1951, in Clinton. Due to Jim’s career with American Family, their family made homes in Clinton, Racine, and Oglesby, IL. The family eventually settled in Stoughton in 1968.
Marian’s life’s devotion was to Jim, her boys, and four grandchildren. She delighted in raising her boys, attending every sporting event, and making memories for every member of her growing family. Her four grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She doted over them, eager to make lifelong memories, their favorite foods, and nurture their love of family and adventure.
Marian is survived by her sons Michael (Carrie Gruber) Johnson and Mark (Mindy) Johnson; grandchildren Charles Johnson, Mikayla Johnson (Sam Stickle), Tucker (Alicia) Johnson, Sawyer (Kate) Johnson; great grandchildren Makenna, Thomas, Leona, Emily, and great grandbaby Johnson due to arrive in March. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marian is preceded in death by her parents, husband James “Jim” Johnson, four sisters, and three brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, January 16, 2026 at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 310 E. Washington Avenue, Stoughton, with Reverend Bill Lehman presiding. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am, until the time of service.
Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI 53711.
Heartfelt thanks to Megan and Crystal from Agrace HospiceCare and the loving caregivers at Kettle Park Senior Living.
