Marian Ashman

MADISON - Marian B. Ashman passed away on February 17, 2018 at Aster Care Assisted Living, Cottage Grove, WI at the age of 98. Marian was born on September 21, 1919 in Kenosha, WI, to Benjamin Ashman and Mildred Duncan Ashman. When her father got a teaching position at Central High in Madison the family moved there. Marian graduated from the UW WI with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics, Dietetics. She served in the U.S. Army from April 1, 1945 through March 31, 1947. She was stationed at 3 hospitals and 1 Army Camp. She was honorably discharged. During her career she worked in many hospitals and also at the Pentagon in food service. She eventually moved back to Madison and worked as a Supervisor at Gordon Commons until she retired in 1981. She was a consistent patron of the arts and very involved in all forms of Conservation throughout her life.

Marian is survived by 1 nephew, Jonathan Wilde; 3 nieces; Phoebe Wilde, Laurie (Norman) Peccini , and Constance (William) Weiss . She also is survived by 2 great nieces; Emma (Kyle) Mallon and Emily (John) Craft; and many special cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Helen (John) Wilde ; brother, Stephen (Joyce) Ashman ; sister, Margaret Huff (Charles Allen) and her last sibling, brother Thomas Ashman.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am, Monday, April 9th at Cress Funeral Home, Stoughton WI. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:00. Immediately following the service burial will take place at Cooksville Cemetery. Fr. Randy Budnar will be officiating the service at Cress and at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Heartland Hospice Care, 2810 Crossroads Drive, Suite 1900, Madison, WI 53718-7942.
