Margret Siedschlag

MADISON - Margret Siedschlag, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Agrace HospiceCare with her family at her side.
Margret was born March 21, 1922 in Poynette, WI, to her parents Gordon and Myrtle Stewart. She grew up in Poynette and attended UW-Madison. Margret received a nursing degree from UW-Madison in 1949. After college she worked as a nurse for UW-Hospitals for 10 years, where she treated her patients with kindness and compassion. She met and married Franklin (Dick) Siedschlag on August 28, 1954. In 1960 Margret moved into an academic nursing role where she developed and wrote detailed nursing procedures used to train the nursing staff in the UW hospital system. She worked in the hospital system until her retirement in 1988.
Margret enjoyed traveling, playing the piano and getting together with friends and family. She also played an active leadership role in the Madison Area Gluten Intolerance Chapter (MAGIC) to help those afflicted by Celiac Sprue. In retirement, Margret and Dick traveled extensively in Europe and Brazil as part of the Friendship Force, a global organization that facilitates cultural exchanges. She also enjoyed painting and doing crossword puzzles.
Margret is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dick; her son, Greg (Marcy) of Minneapolis; grandsons, Andy and Grant; sister, Janet Nehls of Portage; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11 am at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 203 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
