Margie M. Carpenter

Sun Prairie – Margie M. Carpenter, age 89, left this world peacefully at her home on Easter morning, April 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Margie’s story was one of love, devotion, and a life beautifully lived. Born in 1936, she met her forever love, John S. Carpenter, in a time when life was full of promise. Their paths crossed in California, where John was serving in the Navy and Margie had moved after graduation to live at the YWCA. Their connection was immediate, and at just 24, they sealed their love with a courthouse wedding in February 1960, followed by a heartfelt Catholic ceremony six months later. Together, they embarked on a journey that would bless them with a family and a lifetime of memories.

Their love was built on quiet moments and shared dreams. Margie and John started their family in 1961, creating a home filled with warmth, kindness, and the simple joys of life. Margie was the heart of that home—a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a talented homemaker whose love was expressed through her cooking, sewing, and the countless small gestures that made their house a sanctuary.

Margie’s kitchen was a place of magic, where her chocolate miracle whip cakes, pumpkin pies, and pecan pies became treasured traditions. Her homemade meatloaf, cookies, and cinnamon rolls were more than food—they were love served on a plate. She had a special treat called silk tea, a warm, comforting drink that she shared before bedtime, and she delighted in making frosting-filled graham crackers for her children’s after-school snacks, creating moments that would be etched in their hearts forever.

A woman of creativity and skill, Margie loved sewing her own clothes. She crafted Tina’s prom dress—an heirloom of love and dedication—and transformed lace curtains into a beautiful teal dress for Jeanna when she was only four. Despite occasional frustrations with her sewing machine, her perseverance and talent shone through in every stitch. She also enjoyed knitting, creating colorful hot pads that brightened her home and her family’s lives.

Margie’s love extended beyond her family, and her gentle spirit touched everyone she knew. She is survived by her daughter Evelyn; son Terry; daughter Tina; grandchildren Nathan, Jada, and Jeanna (Gina); great-grandchildren Jameson, Jackson, and a baby girl on the way. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Alice Bettin, of Minnesota.

Her life was a testament to the power of love—love that nurtured, created, and endured through the years. Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, who passed away in 2014, her parents, and her brother, Vern Royse.

Though she has gone from this world, the love she gave and the memories she created will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her most.
