MADISON - Margaret A. Spyros, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday Feb. 19, 2017 at Oakwood West. She was born March 9, 1929 in Portage, Wisconsin to the late George and Marie (Kearney) Traut. Margaret attended a one room school until 8th grade, and was a 1947 graduate of Rio High School. Margaret married Milton "Mike" Spyros on September 5, 1953 at Holy Redeemer Church, and was a Madison resident her adult life, belonging to Holy Redeemer, Blessed Sacrament and 59 years at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Churches. She loved to cook and bake, volunteer at Queen of Peace, VFW and MG&E retirees luncheons. She was also a longtime member of the VFW 7591 ladies auxiliary, Elks Club, and the Red Hatters. Maggie was a loving, compassionate and gracious lady and will be missed by those who knew her.
Margaret is survived by her children Nancy (Dr. Stephen) McDonnell, Edward "Ed" (Marlene Muttini) Spyros, Angela (Neal) Moebius; grandchildren Kelly McDonnell and Rebecca McDonnell; sister-in-law Tess Schwemmer; and extended family, friends and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Milton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Sat. Feb. 25, 2017 at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Dr., Madison, with Fr. Bill Nolan presiding. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Fri. Feb. 24 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd. Madison, and also from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass at church on Sat.
Memorials may be made to the Queen of Peace School Endowment Fund.
