Madison - Margaret (Peggy) Schrantz died peacefully, and surrounded by her family and love in the quiet environs of Agrace HospiceCare, on Sunday, August 12, 2012 after combating pancreatic cancer. She was born on April 12, 1935, to Margaret Brauch Parent and Gustave Parent in St. Cloud, Minn.
Peggy grew up in St. Cloud and attended Cathedral High School and graduated from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn. She married Roger Schrantz in 1960, and moved to Madison where she taught second grade at Schenk School. She and Roger had four children, Margaret Ann, Christopher, Nicholas, and Zachary. Peggy was committed to her family and loved them, and they her, with unconditional love. Their home was filled with laughter and with compassion and consideration of others. She was a devoted and loyal friend and shared many special moments with them, and left an indelible mark on their hearts. Peggy was a committed Catholic and lived her faith. Her concern for others is demonstrated not only through her loyalty to family and friends, but also through her commitment to her community. Peggy volunteered extensively at St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, Hospice, Ronald McDonald House, Meals on Wheels, Queen of Peace Church and School, and Edgewood High School. She loved traveling and she and Roger took many trips throughout the United States and Europe. She was especially fond of Door County where she, Roger, and their family shared many happy times. Peggy was an avid reader, an excellent cook and baker, loved music, delighted in playing bridge, and enjoyed laughter. She is survived by her husband, Roger; her children, Christopher (Jane), Nicholas (Megan), and Zachary (Lisa); and by her grandchildren, Kathryn, Jessica, Abigail, William, Andrew, Patrick, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Dorian. She is also survived by her sister, Janet Suraci; brother, Fred Parent; a cousin, Mary Kuhlmann; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Margaret Ann; and her parents.
Although physically gone, she will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Peggy has reached the top of the mountain where God has taken her hand and is leading her to her eternal home.
