Margaret Quartuccio

MADISON
Margaret "Marge" Quartuccio passed away peacefully on Saturday November 26 at the age of 92. She was born on September 28, 1924 in Monroe to Casper and Margaret (Burgin) Maurer. She graduated from South Wayne High School in 1942. She graduated from the school of nursing at Deaconess Hospital in Freeport, IL. During a polio epidemic, she worked with polio patients confined to iron lungs.

In 1949 Marge came to Madison and for the next 40 years she worked as a registered nurse at UW-Children's Hospital working primarily with school age children. She was affectionally known by her patients and staff as Mrs. Q.

Marge attended Bethel Lutheran and there she met the love of her life, James Quartuccio. They were active in Couples Club and Bethel Horizons. Marge helped with Sunday School and Bethel Parrish shop for many years.

Jim and Marge loved to travel and they especially loved their vacations in Door County. They spent many hours at Shriner's Events. She was very proud of her Swiss heritage and especially enjoyed her trips to Switzerland where she met her many Swiss relatives.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Emil Maurer and his wife Jackie and two brothers-in-law, Richard Heins and Bruce Ehr. She is survived by five siblings; William (Kathyrne) Maurer of Austin, Texas, Ruth Heins of Madison, WI., Rosemary Ehr of Coeur D'Alene, ID., Joan (Orbin) Combs of Stoughton, WI., and Emily (Ervin) Lee of Stoughton, WI. She was the beloved Aunt of her many nieces and nephews and enjoyed her role as Godmother to Deborah Lenser and Chris Ehr.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Alzheimer's Care Facility for their excellent care of Marge for the past year and a half and Agrace Hospice Care for their support in her final days.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 312 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison, WI. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona, WI.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Shriner's Hospitals Burn Institute - Galveston, TX. or Bethel Horizons - Bethel Lutheran Church, Madison, WI.
