Margaret Pertzborn

Waunakee-Margaret Anna Pertzborn, age 96, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. The former Margaret Frederick was born on May 23, 1915 in Waunakee the daughter of Joseph & Catherine (Esser) Frederick. Before she was married she worked in Madison cleaning houses and after she and Julius moved off the family farm she resumed doing this. She was united in marriage to Julius Pertzborn on February 21, 1944 at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Martinsville, and together they worked the Pertzborn Homestead for 18 years until 1969 when they moved to Martinsville. She was a former member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, Martinsville, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. In 1994 they moved to Waunakee where she became a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, canning fruits and vegetables and working in her large garden. Mom was a simple woman who lived a simple life helping provide for her family and asking nothing in return, but to be loved. Survivors include her husband, Julius; two children, Donald (Suzi) Pertzborn and Cathy (Stan) Dohm both of Dane; daughter-in-law, Judy Pertzborn, Verona; her seven grandchildren, Jennie (Jeff) Comstock, Austin, TX, Mandy Pertzborn, Madison, Megan Pertzborn, Austin, TX, Don (Tonya) Pertzborn, Martinsville, Kevin (Erin) Pertzborn, Cross Plains, Mark (Vicki) Dohm, Dane and Jeff Dohm, Lodi; 9 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Vi (Norbert) Buechner; brother-in-law, Ted (Cathy) Pertzborn; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Fred, sisters, Marie (Leo) Noltner, Helen (Nick) Bram, Ann (tom) Ray & Rutilla Frederick, brother, Joseph Frederick; additionally, sisters-in-law, Odelia, Sr. Agnes, Etta, Sr. Delores & Elizabeth, brothers-in-law, Roman, Leo, Werner & John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 4-7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at St. Martin's Cemetery at 4:30 p.m. We would like to thank Dr. Ranum and the fine and caring staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their tender loving care and compassion for mom in her final hours. Also the caring staff at Waunakee Manor especially Peggy Schmudlach for their tender & compassionate care of mom the past 3 years. Additionally, a special thank you to Msgr. James Gunn of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Sr. Sandra of St. Mary's for their consoling, prayers and reflections in mom's final hours. Mom's life centered on faith, prayers and Mass. May this bring her to her eternal reward in heaven. Wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, we love you and will miss you dearly. Until we meet again.
