Margaret “Margie” Zilic passed peacefully on September 5, 2025, in Waunakee, Wisc. Born to James and Margaret (Gleason) Malay. Margie met Philip Van Styn while working on a local play in 1969. They were married in August 1973. They moved their children, Kristopher and Elizabeth to Madison, Wisc. in 1995. Margie owned and operated her bookkeeping business, “Balance Your Business,” for over 30 years where she proudly specialized in local Women’s businesses and not for profit organizations. She was particularly proud of her work with The Jessie Crawford Recovery Center. She enjoyed relaxing by watching classic TV, movies and reading a variety of genres of literature; she especially enjoyed the classics, like Jane Eyre, Rebecca, Wuthering Heights and Casablanca and anything written by Stephen King. She loved sparring with her daughter, Elizabeth about Wuthering Heights and discussing Stephen King books with family and friends. Margie was an avid fan of the Beatles, her favorite was Paul McCartney. Margie was an avid animal lover, especially cats of which she had many over her beautiful lifetime. She leaves behind her daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” (Dustin Endres) Van Styn; her brother, Hugh (Pam) Malay; her sister, Mary Ellen Wurtz; her close childhood friend, Marilyn Schutte; close friend, Laura Lussier-Lee; and countless others who she loved and cherished, including nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Donations can be made to the Humane Society, or any local animal shelter or rescue or The Jessie Crawford Recovery Center. A Celebration of Margies Life will be held on her birthday, Thursday, October 16th from 4 to 6 p.m., with a time for sharing memories and talking about the good times at 6 p.m., at Cress Funeral Home 3610 Speedway Road Madison, WI 53705.
