Fitchburg

FITCHBURG

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Jafuta passed away in the early morning of Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Agrace HospiceCare, with her husband by her side.

Peggy was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Myrtle V. (Robertson) and James W. Baird, Sr.

In 1978, Peggy married Forrest Jafuta in a small ceremony at their newly built home in Fitchburg.

Peggy lived a frugal yet rewarding life. She enjoyed being outdoors tending to her gardens, excelling at cooking and baking, and sharing her food at family picnics. One of Peggy’s notable achievements was learning to swim and to scuba dive.

Always thoughtful and caring, Peggy cared for her dear friend, Beatrice David for over 20 years. Even after Bea passed, Peggy tended to her gravesite. Peggy also enjoyed caring for all the adopted pets over the years and spending time with friends and neighbors.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Peggy leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years, Forrest; and her brothers and sisters, James W. Jr. (Pearl) Baird, David Baird, Mary (Paul) Wheeler and June Baird-Goodrich. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard Baird, and sister-in-law, Sharon.

Per Peggy’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathies, donations may be made to Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, 2802 Dairy Dr., Madison, WI 53718; SecondHarvestSW.org/Donate
