Marcia Kellum

Madison - Marcia A. Kellum, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, May 14th at Agrace Hospice Care, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 13, 1943 to Thaddeus (Ted) and Irene (Adamski) Poremski in Chicago.

Marcia is survived by her husband of 50 years, Michael; her daughters, Rebecca, Heidi (spouse Catherine), Christina (partner Ryan); her sons Johan, and Joel (partner Kelly); her grandchildren Gage, Cedar, Phineas, Tova, Simon, Cecile, Mycena, Zoe, Liam, Dani, Maeve and Tristan; her siblings, Mary Kay (Marty), Tina (Raj) and Tod (Elizabeht); and her dog Bezil. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Paul.

Marcia received her B.S.N. from Loyola University, School of Nursing in 1966. She was a neonatal nurse and worked at University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago, IL (1966-1968); North Memorial Hospital, Minneapolis, MN; Hennepin County, Minneapolis, MN (where she founded the neonatal unit); Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden (1969-1971); and Cary Medical Center, Caribou, ME. Marcia was a pediatric nurse in Home Health in Roselle, IL; a real estate agent for Century 21, Roselle, IL; and finally, a discharge planner at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, IL.

Marcia enjoyed knitting, reading, opera, shopping... lots of shopping, talking on the phone, and most of all she enjoyed her time with her children and grandchildren. Mimi was outgoing, honest, spontaneous, selflessly generous and pushy. She took charge of life, all the way up to her last breath.

A Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Holy Wisdom Monastery, 4200 County Road M, Middleton, WI 53562. Mass will follow at 2:00 pm at the same location. A Celebration of Life Brunch will be held between 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m on Sunday, May 19th at The Edgewater, 1001 Wisconsin Place, Madison, WI, 53703. A block of hotel rooms are available at a group rate at The Edgewater (608-535-8240 under Marcia Kellum).
