Mae Noll

Mae Cecelia (McGinley) Noll, age 96, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Waunakee Manor Nursing Home in Waunakee, Wisconsin. Mae was born on May 2, 1921, in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin to William and Minnie McGinley. She graduated as valedictorian of her Soldiers Grove high school in 1939. She attended Madison Business College in Madison, Wi and La Crosse Vocational School. Mae worked at the Gamble Store in La Crosse, the Post Office in Soldiers Grove, and during World War II at the War Production Board in Washington, D. C. Mae did work that was related to the Manhattan Project (the atomic bomb) without realizing at the time what that meant. She relished telling stories of her adventures with her girlfriends living in Washington DC, their nights out being chased by Marines, her trips to New York for shows and dancing, seeing Eleanor Roosevelt speak many times, and the long work hours for the war effort.
Mae married Edward Noll at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gays Mills, Wisconsin on June 29, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1998.
Mae is survived by six children: Mary (Dean) Olver, Thomas (Barbara) Noll, William Noll, Ann (Bill) McGah, Barbara (Tony) Noll-Hornick, and Steven (Tim Lom) Noll. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and step-brothers, Richard McGinley and James McGinley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, and step-mother Grace McGinley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday October 31, 2017 at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Dr. Madison. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon at church will follow the entombment. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday October 30, 2017 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., and also from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass on Tuesday at the Church.
