Stoughton- Mae M. Benisch, age 85, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Azura Memory Care. She was born in Stoughton on September 12, 1931, the daughter of Herman and Myrtle Hermanson. Mae graduated from Stoughton High School and from Cosmetology College. On May 3, 1952 she married Robert Benisch. Robert was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany where they lived for a period of time. Upon their return to the U.S., together they farmed for many years in rural Edgerton. Mae and Robert were dedicated members of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Mae enjoyed traveling to visit family out West, sewing, and cake decorating. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Mae is survived by her children, Judy (Don) Hotter of Montana, Bob (Nancy) of Cambridge, Jane (Jerry Duesterbeck) of Fort Atkinson, and Jim (Sandi) of Edgerton; grandchildren, Jesse, Ricky (Ashley), Abby, Cassie, and Chris; great grandchildren, Jacey, Rose, Corbin, Allyson, Jonathan and Dominic; two brothers, David and Gene Hermanson; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Howard. Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 701 W. Water Street, Cambridge. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following Mass, in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in St. Ann Catholic Cemetery in Stoughton. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass on Thursday at church. Thank you to the staff of Azura Memory Care for their care and attention to mom for the last five years, and to Father Francisco Higuera for visiting with mom. Please share your memories of Mae.
