Mabel Hartwig

d. May 9, 2012

On Wednesday May 9, 2012 our heavenly Father called his daughter Mabel A. Hartwig home at the age of 87. She was born at home on November 20, 1924 to Arnold and Louise (Halverson) Barfknrecht, the 3rd oldest of 9 children. All have preceded her in death except 1 sister.

She was married to Eldon Hartwig on September 5, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa. She went on to have 4 children of her own, 2 sons, Dennis and Larry and 2 daughters, Connie and Sharon. She also has 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon on February 1, 2000, a grandson Jade Harrington on October 15, 2008 and her youngest son Larry Hartwig on August 5, 2001.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She always put the needs of others before herself especially family. She raised her family in Deerfield, WI. She had her hands full with 4 children in 5 years. She was a strong and dedicated Mom. As a child she was raised in the depression, so she learned how to be a resourceful person in so many ways.

She mostly worked in the health field and later in life got a degree in Practical Nursing. She moved to New Lisbon, WI in 1987, where she took in a foster girl for 13 years until she was 76 years old. She loved to laugh and stay active. She enjoyed gardening, making quilts, traveling, reading, crocheting, sewing, helping and loving her family. Most of all she loved the Lord and put her trust in him.

She will be missed greatly but believed we will all be reunited together soon. Thank you for the great love, teaching, and patience you bestowed on your family and all who knew you.
