Obituary

Lynn Frederick Standorf, age 90, of Madison, Wisconsin, passed away on October 8, 2026, surrounded by his wife, daughters, son-in-law, and grandchildren.

Lynn was born on April 4, 1936, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, to William and Madella Standorf. On September 24, 1966, he married the love of his life, Beverly Norland, and together they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Lynn earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and proudly played trumpet in the university marching band. During his college years, he was drafted into the United States Army in February 1959. While serving, he attended the Naval School of Music and was stationed at Fort Monroe, Virginia. Lynn later became a member of the Continental Command Band and served honorably until his discharge in February 1961.

Following his military service, Lynn embarked on a distinguished 47-year career as a mechanical engineer with Affiliated Engineers in Madison. He was also a devoted member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for more than 50 years, where he served on various committees and played in the church orchestra.

Lynn enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including bowling and golf. In recent years, he especially cherished attending his grandchildren's sporting events, musical performances, and other activities. He also loved shopping, watching sports, and sharing lunches with Bev. Together, they enjoyed playing euchre with their card club friends and attending University of Wisconsin football and basketball games.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, William and Madella Standorf; his brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Jeanette Standorf; his brother-in-law, Phillip Norland; and his nephew, Alan Standorf.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly; his daughters, Lisa and Leslie (Chris Goodavish); and his cherished grandchildren, Abbie, Abigail, Andrea, Ellie, Emmie, and Caleb. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Olson (Homer) and Elaine Hankel (Dave Jeglum).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Road, Madison, Wisconsin.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Lunch: Immediately following the service

Lynn's ashes will be placed in the Good Shepherd Columbarium at a later date during a private family gathering.
