Lyda Locke

Madison- Lyda "Lydie" Mae Locke, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday December 11, 2017 at Oakwood Village East in Madison, Wisconsin.

She was born in Worden, Illinois on May 31,1924, the daughter of Edward F. Kunz and Lena C. Kunz. Lydie graduated from Alton High School in 1942 and worked at Western Cartridge Company in East Alton, Illinois where she developed many life long friendships. On October 29, 1946 she married Edmond D.(Bud)Locke. Together they found great joy in being an integral part of their children, grand children and great grand children's lives. They hosted numerous family gatherings where food was plentiful and laughter and love of family was shared. Lydie and Bud were married for 62 years.

She is survived by her son David (Debra), two daughters, Carol(Jim) Delehanty, and Mary Beth Johnson. She is also survived by seven Grandchildren, Ahren (Dee) Locke, Brendan(Melissa)Locke, Meredith (Chris) Guttu, Michael (Shelly) McLaughlin, Maggie (Mike) McClure, Graham (Natalie) Thompson, and Mia (Jeremy) Rodriguez. Also eight Great Grandchildren, Jackson and Carter Locke, Johnathon and Julia McLaughlin, Sophia and Ava Rodriguez and Elliot and Victoria Thompson. Lyda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters, Anita(Bob)Fox, and Marian(Gil)Mueller.

She will be greatly missed by all of her family members and countless friends both in the Alton area and in Madison.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 20, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Oakwood Village East Tree of Life Chapel, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison, Wi. 53718 with Rev Wayne Shannon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cancer Hawk, c/o D. Locke, PO Box 253, McFarland, Wi. 53558 or the American Diabetes Association.
