In Loving Memory of Luu Vang

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Luu Vang on July 21, 2026. Luu passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 85.

Luu was born on December 31, 1940, in Sayaboury Province, Laos to Chia Shoua Xiong and Houa Xiong. Luu’s father passed away when she was young. Luu’s mom then married Sai Tong Vang. She was the eldest of seven siblings (Xeng, Tong, Mai, Dhia, Chue and Qhua). After Luu’s first husband, Va Chai Yang, passed away, Luu then married Song Ger Cha.

Luu spent much of her early life immersed in the family and homeland she loved. In 1989, she made the difficult decision to immigrate to the United States, leaving behind her siblings, extended family, her stepson, and the life she had always known in hopes of a better life. As a homemaker, Luu devoted herself to raising her daughters.

Luu loved being surrounded by her family, sharing meals, attending church gatherings, and reminiscing about her life in Laos. In her past time, Luu enjoyed sewing and cross-stitching, listening to kwv txhiaj, tending to her vegetable garden, singing hymns, and watching movies.

Luu is survived by her daughters, Der (Nixon) and Geri (Dominic), and her cherished grandchildren, Lanie, Ethan, Jason, Chloe, Angelie, Gracie, and Genevieve.

Luu was a head-strong woman of resilience, sacrifice, faith, and love. She will be remembered for her warm smiles, generous heart, the many stories she told, and for being a loving mother and grandmother.

Luu’s family invites all who knew her to join them in celebrating Luu’s life and honoring her memories.
