WAUNAKEE- Lujean Braunger, age 70, of Waunakee, died on November 7, 2014 at Agrace Hospice Care surrounded by loved ones after a battle with brain cancer.
She was born on April 29, 1944, in Lawrence, NE to Matt and Bette (Frey) Pohlmeier. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in Hutchinson, MN and Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, IA. She married Tom Braunger on July 6, 1968, in Hutchinson. They moved to Waunakee, where Tom and Lujean raised their two children, Mary and David. Lujean started teaching third grade full time in 1976. She later taught seventh grade math and then fourth grade at Waunakee Heritage Elementary School. She was a member of St. John's Piecemakers Quilt Club.
Survivors include her husband, Tom; daughter, Mary (Alex) Drucker of Madison; and son, Dave (Patty) Braunger of Minneapolis; sister Marie (Charlie) Johnson of Fridley, MN; Paula (Brian) Lee of Bozeman, MT; Richard (Jackie) Pohlmeier of Biscay, MN; and Anne Mary (Kevin) Pagel of Winthrop, MN; four grandchildren: Chelsea, James, Devrah, and Alexis; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Florine Koning; and a brother-in-law, Jim Braunger.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, November 15, at Holy Wisdom Monastery at 4200 County Road M, Middleton, WI. There will be a reception and gathering after the service to greet the family.
