MIDDLETON - Lucille Taylor, age 93, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025. She was born on October 12, 1932, daughter of Frank and Mary (Meinholz) Ziegler and daughter-in-law to Harvey and Ida (Morrill) Taylor. She married Harvey "Johnny" Taylor on May 11,1954 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, Westport.
Lucille was a member of St. Benard Catholic Church, Middleton and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 360, Waunakee. She was a volunteer at the Middleton Senior Center, City Hall Community Gardner, Trail Steward for Middleton Parks and Pheasant Branch Conservancy. She worked at HyWay Dry Cleaners, Grabers (Springs Window Fashions), enjoyed working at Camp Randall per mar security at football games and as she proudly shared was a "cleaning lady making $8 a day".
Lucille & Harvey loved winters in Florida, traveling all over the world, bowling, fishing, playing cards, walking & biking the parks and conservancy in Middleton.
Committed to hard work, frugal living, participating in the community and enjoying the outdoors, they created a legacy for the entire area to enjoy by generously leaving their life savings to help build the Harvey John and Lucille Taylor Memorial Public Park on Hwy. Q in the Community of Bishops Bay subdivisions. Lucille was an integral team member to the design and implementation of the park and loved seeing it come to fruition.
In 2014, Lucille was awarded the Middleton Good Neighbor award which recognizes individuals who make a difference in the community and who embody what it means to be a Good Neighbor.
In 2015, Lucille was the recipient of the Wisconsin Park & Recreation Association's (WPRA) Honorary Fellowship Award the highest award given to a layperson in recognition of outstanding service to the parks and recreation profession and to their community.
Lucille is survived by her dear best friend Penni Klein, siblings Irene Ripp, Francis (Loretta) Ziegler and Marlene Ziegler and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; siblings Carolyn and husband John "Jack" Barbian, Seraphine "Roundy" and husband Leo Herbrand, brother Donald Ziegler; brothers-in-law Alfred "Fritz" Roelke and Cyril Ripp.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December, 19 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St Bernards Catholic Church, 2015 Parmenter St, Middleton. Visitation will be at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services . A reception will follow.
