McFarland- Lucille M. Shorette, age 78, passed away at her home on Friday, June 15, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born in Freeport, IL on December 23, 1933, the daughter of Albert and Evelyn (Otte) Hummermeier. On July 23, 1955 Lucille married Victor Shorette. She worked for the St. Lawrence Seaway in New York during the inauguration of the seaway. Lucille worked for the McFarland School District while her children attended school, and then for the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue legal staff. She was a member of McFarland Lutheran Church, TOPS, volunteered for RSVP, and a member of the McFarland American Legion Auxiliary. In her retirement Lucille enjoyed wintering in Florida where she could swim, play BINGO, scrabble and cards with her family and friends. She will be missed by her husband, Victor; four children, Stephen Shorette and his partner Steven Chickering, Susan (Doug) Wedel, Diane (Dave) Ogden and David Shorette; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Betty Rockett; and many family members and friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Road. Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration reception following in the church fellowship hall. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 PM until the time of services Wednesday at the church.
