Lucille Hoskins

August 3, 1930 — February 12, 2016

Hoskins, Lucille

Madison: Lucille (Lou or LuLu) Anita Hoskins, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2016. She was born on August 3, 1930, in Madison, WI, and was the daughter of the late George and Hazel (Stondall) Nelson. In 1949 she married her lifelong, loving partner, James Marshall Hoskins, whom she recently celebrated 67 wonderful years with. Lucille's career began in a dress shop on the Square in downtown Madison at the age of 14. She later worked as a secretary in insurance, a scientific laboratory equipment company, and for the laundry officer at Ft. Leonard Wood while Jim was in the service. She then took many UW Extension courses between the years of 1976 and 1981. The skills she gained helped her run a successful business with her husband for nearly 40 years. Lucille was a person who added joy to the lives of many people while being a member of Harlequin Dance Club, her ladies bridge group, which soon became a "bridgeless" bridge group, a gourmet dinner club and Madison GYRO Club. Lou donated many hours, serving on the Board of Easter Seals and the Cerebral Palsy Program of Dane County.

Words cannot even describe how lucky we were to have you for our mom. You gave us your unconditional love, support and guidance that has shaped us in to the women we are today. Thank you mom. You will remain in our hearts forever, and we know you'll be watching over us all.
-Amy and Carol

We have been best friends since childhood, and you were the big sister who watched over me. I always knew you were there for me. I treasure the time we spent together in recent years sitting up at night reminiscing about our childhood. I always admired you for the way you handled challenges in life with perseverance, determination and strength. I will greatly miss you.
-Marilyn (Nelson) Cyr
