Madison and Waunakee - Lucille Corcoran, age 91, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. She was born in Madison, WI on December 10, 1921, the daughter of George and Thelma (Tollefson) Olday.
Lu married the love of her life and soul mate, Earl "Buzz" Corcoran, on Jan. 31, 1941. Lu worked and was part owner of Corcoran's Tavern on University Ave. (home of the best burgers in town). Later she worked and finally retired from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Lu was a great bowler, leading the city in scoring many times. She bowled with Addie Corcoran, Dorothy Hildebrandt, Dorothy Schmale, and Emily Knoche on the great "New Pines" team. Lu and Buzz were avid sports fans, especially the Wisconsin Badgers (season ticket holders) and Chicago CUBS and BEARS.
Lu is survived by her two loving sons, Jim and Bonnie Corcoran of Harmony Grove: their family, Tim Corcoran, Kelly Corcoran, Scott (Gigi) Faust, Craig Faust, and Brian (Lora) Faust and Tom "Hop" and Marlene Corcoran of Houston, TX and their son Clint Corcoran and her sister Alice Flemming of Madison. She was also blessed with 13 wonderful great-grandchildren: Mikaila, Rebbeca, and Nicholas Corcoran, Colette, Brynn, Aydin, Dominic, Nathan, Natalie, Nolan, Max, Mia, and Jet Faust and many relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents George and Thelma (Tollefson) Olday, her two brothers Lowell and Allen Olday, her loving husband of 60 years Earl "Buzz" Corcoran, brother-in-law William "Bill" Corcoran, brother and sister-in-law Vincent and Dorothy (Corcoran) Hildebrandt.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 pm until 7pm at Cress Funeral Home on 3610 Speedway Rd, Madison, WI on Monday, July 1, 2013.
