Luann G. (Schwartz) Miner

Luann Miner (Schwartz), age 66, Madison (Dane) WI passed away on August 23rd, 2024 after an exhausting battle with bile duct cancer. 

Luann was born on November 16th, 1957. She was adopted by her parents Gilbert and Viola Meffert of Waunakee along with her brothers Kevin and Terry Meffert. Luann attended Waunakee High School. She married Tom Schwartz of Lodi in 1977.

After getting married and having her first son Brad, Luann started an in-home daycare where she cared for families for over 30 years. She went on to have five more children Jason, Stephanie, Katie, Ryan and Justin. 

Luann was full of life and made caring for children her passion. She continued to work with children at the Lodi rec center and also in the Lodi School District until she retired. Her children were her pride and joy and this continued on with all 10 of her grandchildren. 

Later in life Luann went on to marry her sweetheart Mark Miner. They enjoyed biking, paddleboarding, and any outdoor activity that they could do together. 

When not enjoying the outdoors you could find Luann at her grandson’s baseball games, granddaughters music concerts or spending time with her other grandchildren.

Luann was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert & Viola Meffert, her step-mother MaryAnn Meffert and her brother Kevin Meffert. 

She is survived by her husband Mark Miner, her brother Terry (Kari) Meffert, her children Brad (Trisha) Schwartz, Jason Schwartz , Stephanie (Troy) Lauber, Katie (Josh) Leaf, Ryan (Briana) Schwartz and Justin Schwartz (Gnomie), along with her 10 grandchildren Lexy, Grant, Leah, Dylan, Chase, Devin, Cooper, Daniel, Noah and Andrew. 

A special thank you to everyone who sent prayers and cards to help Luann during her battle. She had a smile on her face every time a card was read to her. 

And a very special thank you to Agrace Hospice and her nurse Rebccea who cared for her in her last few months. 

A visitation will be held on Thursday August 29th at Cress Funeral home in Waunakee from 5:00-7:00 pm. Her funeral will be held on Friday August 30th at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Church in Waunakee, with a visitation beforehand beginning at 9:30am. There will be a luncheon following her service at the Whippoorwill/Hawk’s Nest, 7914 Hwy 19, Dane.
