Lowell Maves

Lowell Rolland Maves, age 72 of Sun Prairie died on Monday, August 1, 2016 at home. Lowell was born on August 1, 1944 at the Edgerton Memorial Hospital to Rolland & Lucy Maves. He graduated from Edgerton High School in 1962 where he played and umpired sports. His love of sports carried throughout his life; he umpired and coached Little League Baseball and had a passion for junior bowling. Lowell was very proud of the Prairie Lanes Junior Bowling Program and was instrumental in starting the scholarship program; he truly loved working with the kids of all ages.
Lowell attended MATC in Madison where he earned a degree in Accounting. He worked for the State of Wisconsin and retired in 2008. His easy going manner earned him many friends especially in Northern Wisconsin where he had a camping trailer. Lowell was a steadfast Packers, Brewers and Badgers Fan.
Loving son of Lucy Maves of Edgerton, dear father of Rachael (Steve) McKenzie and Jon (Tracy) Maves, both of Sun Prairie. Proud Grandfather to Haley (Zach) Guidry, Levi, Cody, Dylan and Dawson. Elder brother of Richard (Sandra) Maves of Stoughton, Lyle Maves of Edgerton and Sue (Rick) Takacs of Somerville, Alabama. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded by his father, Rolland, his brother Scott, and his grandson, Jarret.
A Celebration of Lowell's life will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Cress Funeral Home and from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Because of Lowell's passion for junior bowling, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prairie Lanes Junior Bowling Scholarship Fund, c/o Cher Breuning at any Bank of Sun Prairie.
