Louise Theis (Ballweg) 11/13/1942 – 8/19/2026
Waunakee — With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of Louise Theis (Ballweg) on August 19, 2026, at the age of 83.
Louise was born on November 13, 1942. Louise and Eugene were married for 63 years and made their home on the family farm in Waunakee. There, Louise devoted herself to her family, the farm, and the life they built together. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
The farm was at the heart of Louise’s life. She worked right alongside Eugene, driving tractors during planting and harvest seasons while raising five children. If she wasn’t working on the farm, you could often find her cheering on her children and grandchildren at their sports and activities. She also enjoyed playing Euchre with friends, attending county fairs, baking, country music, traveling, and Sunday car rides. Above all, Louise treasured the time she shared with her family.
Louise worked at American Girl for more than 20 years and was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and willingness to help others.
Louise is survived by her husband, Eugene; her children, Diane (Ron) Koch, Donna (Joe) Mogensen, David (Sandie) Theis, and Dawn (Scott) Ripp; and her grandchildren, Jessica (Max) Olson, Brooke Mogensen, Cassidie, Caitlin and Carter Theis, and Hailey and Alyssa Ripp.
She is further survived by her siblings, George (Illa Rae) Ballweg, Eugene Ballweg, Elaine (Larry) Adler, Jerry Ballweg, and Jo (Bill) Hart; sister-in-law Marion Ballweg; and many nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Gerhard and Josephine Ballweg; her son, Steven Theis; her brothers, Lloyd Ballweg and Stanley Ballweg; her sister and brother-in-law, Florence (Bob) Rau; her sister-in-law, Winnie Ballweg; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Theis family.
Louise will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
The family extends special thanks to Sienna Crest Assisted Living, including Tricia Georgeson and staff, and the team at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg for the special care and compassion they gave Louise.
A funeral service will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South Street, Waunakee, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Please share your memories at www.cressfuneralservice.com
