Louise Catherine Smoczynski

Madison- Louise C. Smoczynski, age 82, died at her home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. She was born in Chicago on November 20, 1942, the daughter of John and Ethel Wisnieski. After high school Lou attended Loyola University, Downtown Campus, and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in business administration. In December 1967 Lou married Florian Smoczynski in Oak Park, IL. Together they enjoyed traveling, especially spending time up North, the big island of Hawaii, and San Francisco. Lou enjoyed being the office manager for the Dane County Planning Commission for 25 years until her retirement. She loved life, nature, all of her friends, her beloved canine companion Felix, and a good drink.

Lou is survived by her husband, Florian “Putt” Smoczynski; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Fred and Paul; and sister, Mary Ann Wisnieski.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 9, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 404 E. Main Street, Madison, with Fr. Andrew Showers officiating. A luncheon will follow at St. James Catholic Church fellowship hall located at 1204 St. James Court, Madison. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
