MADISON - Lorna E. Olson, age 94, died on November 27, 2013 at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison. She was born on May 30, 1919 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison to Joseph and Laura Endres (nee Buser). Lorna attended Blessed Sacrament School, West High School, and Groves-Barnhardt Secretarial School.
As a young girl, Lorna was considered a child prodigy at the Wheeler Conservatory of Music where she loved to sing, dance, and play piano. She lived in a loving home with her father, mother, and brothers and shared endless stories of her youth, high school years, and the courtship that led to her marriage to Harold "Howdy" Olson on October 19, 1940.
Lorna lived a very active life raising 7 children while working at St. Mary's Hospital and pursuing her passions for cooking, quilting, and reading. She also forged long-term relationships with a special group of friends who formed a Bridge Club that lasted over 50 years.
Lorna will be remembered for her kindness and a loving quality of putting others needs above her own. She had a strong faith in God and all who met her were touched by her smile and loving ways. Our prayer is that we will share the same kindness, love and generosity with others that she has shown to us.
Lorna is survived by her children David (Linda) of Sheboygan, Eric (MaryBeth) Mulino, OR,
Laura (Gary), Karl (Gail) and Charles (Ann), all of Madison, and daughter-in-law Cheryl of Fond du Lac.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents Laura and Joseph, husband "Howdy" (1999), son James (2010), daughter Kysa (2013), brothers Gerald, Rodney, Leslie, and Joseph.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2115 Rowley Avenue, Madison, with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials in her honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc and St. Mary's Care Center. The Olson family wishes to thank the dedicated staff of St. Mary's Care Center for their compassionate care of our mother. We also extend a very heartfelt thank you to -- Shirley Aldrich, Angela Paolletti, Janet Marsh, Pauline Veith, and Carol Swain -- for their love and care of Lorna that enabled her to live in her Fox Ave home until early this year.
