Loletta A. Halverson

October 15, 1909 — August 9, 2008

Stoughton- Loletta A. Halverson, age 98, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Skaalen Home.  She was born in Harvey, ND on October 15, 1909 the daughter of the Rev. Richard and Anna (Knauss) Bloedau.  Loletta attended Eastern Montana State College in Billings, Montana and graduated from Dickinson State College in Dickinson, ND.  She taught school for several years in Montana and North Dakota.  In 1938 Loletta married Stener Halverson in Eureka, SD.  Together they moved to WI and lived on Lake Kegonsa in the Town of Dunn.  After coming to WI Loletta attended UW-Whitewater.  She then taught for 14 years in London and Cambridge.  She was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church and very active in environmental causes for the Town of Dunn.  Loletta is survived by her three daughters, Mary Spence of Stoughton, Martha (Richard) Davis of Menomonee Falls and Louise (Sonny) Curtis of Burns, TN; five grandchildren, Eric Davis, Melissa Gardner; Josh (Sarah) Davis, Sarah (Neal) Graziano and Jessica (Jeff Fruin) Davis; and two great grandchildren, Estella Graziano and Cole Fruin.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Stener Halverson; and siblings, Ann Webster, Reuben Bloedau, Emanuel Bloedau, Mildred Moses and Richard Bloedau.  Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008.  Burial took place at Eastside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Stoughton Library or to the charity of the donors choice.  A special thank you to the staff of Skaalen Home, to Rev. Richard Rem for his constant support and friendship, to all of Loletta's devoted nieces and nephews, and to caregiver Nancy Onder.
