Lois Hatfield

Madison - A celebration of Life! Lois Slone Mattson Hatfield was called to be with her heavenly father on Monday, August 19, 2013. Lois was born January 7, 1928 in Ohio. She worked for General Electric where she met and married Robert Mattson, now deceased. Lois had four children: Melody and Erik who predecease Lois as well as her two surviving children Mitch Mattson of Texas and Michelle Ziche of Wisconsin. Lois was always a very active volunteer in both her church and community. In Texas Lois worked as a Blue Bird at the local hospital, was a reading mentor in the public school system and was both a Stephen Minister and a Sunday school teacher at Concordia Lutheran Church in San Antonio. In Helsinki, Finland Lois taught conversational English to the Finnish school children as well as being President of the American Women's Club. After moving to Wisconsin, Lois continued her volunteer efforts teaching a weekly knitting class at the Fitchburg Senior Center, knitting hats for the newborns at the Madison hospitals and volunteering tirelessly at her church, Christ Memorial Lutheran in Fitchburg. Lois loved reading, knitting and arranging flowers. Her Lord always came first in her life followed closely by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all of who look forward to being reunited with Lois in Heaven. Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday August 24, 2013 at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 2833Raritan Rd, Fitchburg.
