Lois Mary Brull passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the age of 88 of natural causes. At the time of death, she was living at Talamore Senior Living in Sun Prairie, WI.
Lois was born June 18, 1933, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin to Wallace and Florence (McDermott) Copeskey. She graduated from Washington High School in 1951. She married Kenneth Brull on July 2, 1955, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Two Rivers and enjoyed 64 years with him until he passed away in September of 2019. They lived in the Milwaukee area until 1972 when their house was built in New Berlin.
Lois started nursing school, but she found a different path becoming a payroll clerk first for Clark Oil and later for the City of Brookfield. In her spare time, she had fun bowling with Ken in several leagues, playing cards with friends and family, and going to Milwaukee Brewer baseball games. Lois also had the opportunity to travel with Ken to reunions of his Singing Sergeants group from the Air Force and even had the pleasure of hosting them one year. For years, she volunteered for the New Berlin food pantry and helped out at the polls during voting days. Lois was a faithful letter writer and communicator with many people, always staying in touch with those she loved.
Over the last 28 years, it was with great happiness and joy that Lois stepped into two unexpected roles: mom to her niece, Cathryn and grandma to her grandniece, Jana. She loved spoiling Jana and was happy when Jana played her viola and sang for her. Her face would light up every time she was called “Grandma”.
Lois is survived by her brother Robert Copeskey and sisters Catherine Dawson and Patricia Laurin. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters-in-law Betty Strathmann, Janet LeClair, Suzanne Brull; and brother and sister-in-law James “Jim” and Suzanne “Sue” Brull along with many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Wallace and Florence; her in-laws Adolph and Sarah; brothers John Copeskey and William Copeskey; brothers-in-law Donald Laurin, Joseph Dawson, Victor LeClair, John Strathmann, and Robert Brull; and sisters-in-law Maureen Copeseky, Kathy Copeskey, and Irmgard Copeskey.
Lois will be missed by many, especially her niece, Lori Walsh, who provided her primary care for many years with help from Cathryn. This enabled Lois to stay in her home to enjoy her word searches, solitaire, game shows and watching the Bucks, Brewers and Packers on TV.
The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice Care for the excellent service they provided Lois this past month, the staff at Always Best Care for many years of care and companionship, the volunteers of Holy Apostles church in New Berlin for providing her communion and compassion in prayer, and her neighbors Tom and Dana for always lending their helping hand.
A celebration of Lois’s life will take place at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin, Wisconsin on June 18, 2022. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the food pantry of your choice.
