Lloyd Rauls

Lloyd Rauls passed away on Saturday Dec. 27, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison one week after suffering a severe stroke a week earlier in the home he and his wife Joan built on Flambeau Rd. in Madison where he was happy to be able to remain there throughout his life. Lloyd was born Feb. 22, 1930 to the late Anton and Regina (Kalscheur) Rauls.
Lloyd was born in Madison and spent his childhood in Springfield Corners, attending St. Martin's school prior to graduating from Sauk City High School. He married Joan Jaquish in 1951, and they settled in Madison after 2 years of service in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He worked as a carpenter at the University of Wisconsin until his retirement in 1989. He continued to enjoy working with wood and creating puzzles and other crafts. He loved watching kids' and grandkids' sporting events, especially Home Talent league, watching westerns, and cherry crepes at the Original Pancake House.
He was proud to be a Gold Life Master in the American Central Bridge League and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Lloyd is survived by his companion Marge Rosecki, son, Mark (Pam) and their children Ben and Tye; daughter, Karen (Tim) Watson and their children Ryan, Chad and Brett; son, Tim (Marla); son, Mike (Marianne) and their children Olivia and Madeline; son, Thomas (Lisa) and their children Morgan, Hayden and Ellie. 5 great grandchildren, siblings; Donald (Donna) and Janice Walter He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan in 1998, and a grandson Tanner in 1999.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday Dec. 30, 2014 at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Dr. with Fr. Bart Timmerman presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass on Tuesday at the church.
